ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

Philosophy: Litsam supports freedom of speech and believes one purpose of literature is to tackle difficult and controversial topics. To the best of our ability, and without incurring liability or endangering stakeholders, we will support Participant’s efforts to defend a broad interpretation of the First Amendment of the US Constitution and similar documents in relevant jurisdictions.

Notwithstanding this position, Litsam reserves the right to freedom of association, including rejecting association of the Litsam brand with content at Litsam’s sole discretion, at any time. Litsam’s intent is to select books with literary and/or entertainment merit from a wide variety of genres, however Litsam reserves the right to preferentially choose material in Litsam’s sole discretion, based on any or no criteria. Litsam further reserves the right to terminate participation of any content at any time for any or no cause.

Litsam additionally explicitly does not accept these types of content:

  1. Content which violates copyright, including but not limited to

    • Literature which makes use of the characters or environment belonging to a copyrighted work (“Fanfic”) but which is not primarily parody in Litsam’s opinion. With explicit granted permission by the copyright holder on file exceptions may be made at Litsam’s sole discretion.
    • Publication of any material for which you do not hold the copyright and which is not covered by Fair Use.
  2. Material which violates US law, including but not limited to
    • child pornography
    • incitement to illegal action
    • libel and defamation
  3. Content which disadvantages other participants, including but not limited to:
    • Material which contains or installs viruses or worms
    • Content that is primarily for the purpose of selling
    • Content which is harassing in nature
    • Content which interferes with the function or purpose of Litsam

In addition, Litsam may exclude material which could cause us to violate the terms of contracts we enter into. This exclusion may be wholesale, or may be limited to a particular context (such as sales in a region with laws which would render the material illegal.)
